Indexes with reference to the arrival passenger lists  are free of charge at www.castlegarden.org (New York). Likewise, the indexes and passenger lists at www.ellisisland.org (New York) are free. 

Not free of charge are the indexes and the passenger lists at www.ancestry.com / www.ancestry.de (for example New York 1820-1957; Philadelphia 1800-1945, Baltimore 1820-1948; New Orleans 1820-1945), furthermore, indexes and departure passenger lists from Hamburg (1850-1934) are not free. They indicate the last residences of the passengers. Ancestry also has census lists etc. for a fee.

Bremen ( 1907/1908; 1913/14; 1920-1939) indexes and departure passenger lists are available in the internet: www.passagierlisten.org (free of charge).
