Oldenburg gibt es seit 1837 auch in den USA, gegründet von Katholiken aus dem Oldenburger Münsterland, im Südosten des Bundesstaates Indiana, heute an der Interstate 74 halbwegs zwischen Cincinnati und Indianapolis. Hier ist der Stadtplan von 1882:

Er war ein erfolgreicher Kaufmann. Sein „Schreibuch Verzeugnisz“ von 1847 hat er aus Winkum/Oldenburg mitgenommen nach Oldenburg/Indiana:
